I’m a freelance IT consultant who likes to paint. Fortunately, the two disciplines gel quite well.

I’m originally from Fulham, London and spent all my life there until I married Lorna in 1970, when we gradually moved further and further south until hitting the coast at Angmering in West Sussex. Things didn’t work out socially there, so we moved again and have lived in Merrow, Guildford since 1986. We have two sons, Julian and Alan, both hulking brutes who tower over us but we love them dearly!

In September 2005, I took part in Granada TV’s “A Brush With Fame”, a national portrait painting competition. Although I was excluded in the first round of the Brighton heat, I found it a very invigorating and motivating experience. Meeting up with other artists from all walks of life was highly enjoyable. The event knocked me for six; I was absolutely shattered when I arrived home, only adrenaline had kept me going.

I like to enter competitions as they give me a focus in both subject matter and timescale. I’m hoping that I’ll have enough motivation!
